It’s no secret that this wonderful profession we are a part of has a dark side. I can list a number of dentists who’ve been forced to step back. In just the middle of their career. Shoulder, back and neck pain have held them back from their potential.

Dr Jean Wu is no stranger to this. Just two years after graduation she found herself lying on the floor, wondering if she’ll walk again. Fortunately that fear was short lived however the effects of the slipped disk she experienced were not.

This led her down the path of pilates to help strengthen her core and prevent relapse. She fell in love and although it was originally just for personal interest, Jean found herself becoming a qualified instructor and now helps dentists recover from and prevent the very same kind of injuries.

The Diamond Press

I personally have experienced shoulder pain that I attribute to years of Dental assisting. This is such an important topic and something that everyone from students to senior dentists can learn from.

If Jean could recommend only one exercise for every dentist it would be the diamond press. Check out her video tutorial on this and give it a shot.

Jean shares her experience, journey to recovery and advice for dentists including a video for a 10minute pre work workout – free and something you can start today.
