Welcome to What I Wish I Knew by Dental Head Start. This is a podcast where we learn from people that have been there, made the mistakes, learnt the lessons and have developed into the accomplished dental professionals they are today.
It’s your weekly mentoring session.
Most of us know that the learning doesn’t stop when you leave Dental School, however the scope of what you may feel like you need to know can be overwhelming. Communication is a skill often skimmed over at dental school in favour of C-factor and is often the area that we may have the most to learn, but also the most to gain from. This episode Dr. Cigdem Kipel shares with us why she has found prioritising communication focused CPD to be so rewarding.
So this one is brimming with some excellent communication tips! In fact, Cigdem has SO many amazing communication tips that we couldn’t even squeeze them all in to this episode, we will hopefully be sharing the rest of them soon!
This 10 minute episode is absolutely packed with tips and advice for:
- 2:00 – The importance of good communication skills to allow you to practice your full clinical potential
- 3:45 – Overcoming over-explaining
- 6:45 – Challenge your assumptions on communication
- 7:30 – Getting a variety of exposure of courses to develop your authentic style
- 8:40 – Doing courses multiple times to allow things to sink in
I know I learnt a lot in my chat with Cigdem, and really hope you do too. Let us know what you think about the new podcast!
